Odesa regional administration leader Oleg Kiper reported on Telegram on Thursday that Odesa Oblast was subjected to an overnight drone attack from Russia, which aimed to destroy the civil, energy, and transport infrastructure of the region.

He specified that, according to his information, the target was an energy facility. There was also damage to two private houses located near the targets. Windows and doors of an administrative building were broken. Fires broke out but were extinguished by emergency teams.

Bulgarians in the Odesa region number more than 150,000 and were the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001, according to the official census. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
