Top-seeded Bulgarian Ivan Ivanov booked his place in the third round of the US Open boys’ singles tournament after defeating American Maxwell Exsted 6-2, 6-3. The match lasted one hour and 22 minutes.

The match started with an early break for the American in the third game, but Ivanov responded by sweeping the next eight games, racing to a 6-2, 3-0 lead before Exsted managed to hold serve again. Several tightly contested games followed, yet Ivanov maintained control and sealed the victory with a 6-3 score in the second set.

For a place in the quarterfinals, Ivanov will face another American, Maximus Dussault, who came through a three-set battle against Argentina’s Dante Pagani.
