site.btaFruit and Vegetable Prices Decrease in Sept. 8-14

Fruit and vegetable prices decreased in Bulgaria between September 8 and 14, the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets said in its weekly bulletin on Sunday.

The market index for wholesale food prices increased by 0.44% to 2.260, up from 2.250 the previous week. The base value of 1.000 was established in 2005.

Vegetable price changes: green peppers up by 1.25% to BGN 1.94 per kg; red peppers down by 12.14% to BGN 2.20 per kg; zucchini down by 8.31% to BGN 1.50 per kg. Cucumbers down by 4.32% to BGN 2.35 per kg; tomatoes down by 2.37% to BGN 2.06 per kg; potatoes down by 2.23% to BGN 1.05 per kg; cabbage down by 1.59% to BGN 0.99 per kg; ripe onions down by 1.41% to BGN 1.12 per kilogram; carrots down by 1.28% to BGN 1.23 per kg. 

Fruits: peaches up by 9.06% to BGN 3.95 per kg; grapes down by 7.17% to BGN 2.98 per kg; watermelons down by 0.57% to BGN 0.70 per kg; lemons down by 0.09% to BGN 4.47 per kg; apples down by 0.07% to BGN 2.83 per kg.

The price of cow's milk white brine cheese decreased 0.10% to BGN 11.87 per kg; that of Vitosha yellow kashkaval cheese decreased by 0.02% to BGN 17.70 per kg. Yogurt (3% and above fat content) price increased by 2.45% to BGN 1.42 per 400 g cup, while fresh milk depreciated by 1.57% to BGN 2.25 per liter. The price of cow's butter (125-gram packet) went down 1.65% to 3.09 per packet. 

Poultry meat rose in price by 0.75% to BGN 6.97 per kg; eggs (size M) went down by 1.07% to BGN 0.37 per piece.

The price of rice decreased by 2.99% to BGN 3.25 per kilogram, as did the price of type 500 flour, by 3.16% to BGN 1.77 per kilogram. Cooking oil decreased in price by 0.56% to BGN 3.22 per liter. The price of sugar went down by 0.43% to BGN 1.84 per kilogram; as did the price of mature beans, by 0.47% to BGN 4.20 per kilogram. Lentils went up in price by 0.60% to BGN 4.36 per kilogram.
