The price of the consumer basket went up BGN 1 during the week from August 25 to 31, State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets Chair Vladimir Ivanov said here on Monday. He stressed that the trend of normal market interaction without outside influences persists, with price variations being of a seasonal nature.

Red peppers edged BGN 0.11 down wholesale, peaches BGN 0.05, and apricots BGN 0.02. Tomatoes and carrots were unchanged from the week before. Other vegetables and fruits appreciated: cucumbers by BGN 0.09, lemons by BGN 0.18, zucchini by BGN 0.02, potatoes by BGN 0.09, cabbages by BGN 0.10, watermelons by BGN 0.02, green pepers by BGN 0.04, onions of BGN 0.05, and apples by BGN 0.02. 

In the staple foods sector, kashkaval yellow cheese went up by BGN 0.19 (the first increase in five weeks), white brined cheese by BGN 0.18, yogurt by BGN 0.09, beans by BGN 0.02, eggs by BGN 0.01, rice by BGN 0.04, and sugar by BGN 0.03 (the first appreciation in six or seven weeks).      

Pork eased BGN 0.20, milk BGN 0.06, poultry meat BGN 0.03, and sunflower oil BGN 0.04. Flour and butter were steady. 

Between May 20 and August 31, wholesale prices changed as follows: sugar BGN 1.87/BGN 1.85 per kg; beans BGN 4.35/BGN 4.23 per kg; flour BGN 1.54/BGN 1.55 per kg; sunflower oil BGN 3.15/BGN 3.15 per litre; eggs BGN 0.34/BGN 0.37 apiece; yellow kashkaval BGN 18.60/BGN 17.70 per kg; butter BGN 3.17/BGN 3.11 per 125 kg; yogurt BGN 1.43/BGN 1.48 per 400 g; milk BGN 2.36/BGN 2.33 per litre; pork BGN 10.27BGN 9.86 per kg; poultry BGN 6.75/BGN 6.80 per kg; cucumbers BGN 1.94/BGN 2.45 per kg; potatoes BGN 1.39/BGN 1.08 per kg; cabbages BGN 1.70/BGN 0.93 per kg; carrots BGN 1.31/BGN 1.22 per kg; onions BGN 1.36/BGN 1.10 per kg; red peppers BGN 3.27/BGN 2.51 per kg; green peppers BGN 4.32/BGN 1.79 per kg; zucchini BGN 1.30/BGN 1.54 per kg; lemons BGN 3.02/BGN 4.64 per kg; apricots BGN 5.80/BGN 3.86 per kg; watermelons BGN 1.25/BGN 0.69 per kg; apples BGN 2.14/BGN 2.80 kg.

Ivanov said that negative practices are not in evidence either on the wholesale or on the retail market. He added that deviations due to non-market factors do not stand out, and the market is mainly moved by seasonality.
