Economy Minister Peter Dilov and Armenian Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan discussed here on Friday the potential for boosting cooperation in trade, innovation, research, and technology, the Ministry of Economy and Industry reported.
"The relations between our two countries are based on longstanding historical and cultural ties between the Bulgarian and Armenian peoples," Minister Dilov said.
The sides talked about opportunities to expand bilateral economic relations and the prospects for continued cooperation in key sectors such as industrial, energy, and digital infrastructure. The partnership could be further deepened in new sectors like artificial intelligence, Dilov added.
He noted that bilateral trade turnover last year amounted to USD 76 million, which does not reflect the existing potential.
The meeting between the two ministers was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Doncho Barbalov and Armenia's Ambassador to Bulgaria Tsovinar Ambartsumyan, the statement said.
The Armenian delegation is visiting Bulgaria for the 9th session of the Bulgarian-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, held in Sofia under the co-chairmanship of Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and Armenian Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.
