At the time of fast economic and technological changes cooperation is no longer added value, but a necessity, Polish Ambassador to Bulgaria Maciej Szymanski said at the Polish-Bulgarian Fintech Bridge: Shaping the Future Innovation conference on Tuesday.

The event is held under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth Tomislav Donchev and within the framework of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The organizers of the initiative are the Embassy of Poland in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Fintech Association and Fintech Poland.

Szymanski added that the aim of the conference is to strengthen the ties between the Polish and Bulgarian fintech ecosystems. "We believe that interaction, joint work on various markets and experience may turn into a source of benefits," he said and added that “talks will focus on the assessment and gradation of innovation, harmonization of regulations and digital transformation of services, since these topics concern each and every one of us.”

Szymanski said the event is also an opportunity to build bridges, not just technological and regulatory bridges, but ones built on trust and shared values. The Polish Embassy in Sofia is facilitating the process by encouraging dialogue between the public sector and private business and creating real partnerships, he added.

With the Polish fintech sector developing rapidly and Bulgaria "emerging as a technology hub with a solid IT foundation, over 100 fintech start-ups and a competitive regulatory environment, combining the potential of Poland and Bulgaria is an opportunity worth exploring,” Szymanski believes.

In conclusion, he said that the event aims not only in theory but also in practice to build a bridge between Poland and Bulgaria by bringing together business, technology and regulatory frameworks.
