In March 2025, Bulgaria experienced the second-largest monthly decrease in services production among European Union Member States, with a drop of 2.5%, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. This drop was preceded by a decrease of 0.8% in February. 

On a year-on-year basis, services production in this country went up by 2.5% following an increase of 5.6% in February 2025 compared with February 2024. 

Eurostat estimates that in March 2025, compared with February 2025, seasonally adjusted services production increased by 0.6% in the EU and by 0.9% in the euro area. 

In February 2025, services production fell by 0.2% in both the euro area and the EU.

In March 2025, compared with March 2024, services production increased by 2.9% in both the euro area and the EU.

In the EU in March 2025, compared with February 2025, services production decreased for transportation and storage by 0.3% and increased for accommodation and food services by 0.1%, for information and communication by 1.0%, for real estate activities by 0.8%, for professional, scientific and technical activities by 0.4%, and for administrative and support services by 1.5%.

In the euro area services production decreased for transportation and storage by 0.6% and increased for accommodation and food services by 0.1%, for information and communication by 1.8%, for real estate activities by 1.1%, for professional, scientific and technical activities by 0.5%, and for administrative and support services by 1.5%.

Among Member States for which data are available, the highest monthly increases were recorded in Luxembourg (+8.5%), France (+0.9%) and Slovenia (+0.8%). The largest decreases were observed in Slovakia (-2.8%), Bulgaria (-2.5%) and Malta (-2.0%).

In the EU in March 2025, compared with March 2024, services production decreased for accommodation and food services by 0.4% and increased for transportation and storage by 2.8%, for information and communication by 5.7%, for real estate activities by 1.8%, for professional, scientific and technical activities by 3.4%, and for administrative and support services by 1.4%.

In the euro area, services production decreased for accommodation and food services by 0.6% and increased for transportation and storage by 1.9%, for information and communication by 6.3%, for real estate activities by 1.8%, for professional, scientific and technical activities by 3.7%, and for administrative and support services by 1.1%.

The highest annual increases were recorded in Denmark (+10.9%), Luxembourg (+7.8%) and Greece (+5.9%). The largest decreases were observed in Malta (-4.5%), Slovenia (-0.4%) and Sweden (-0.3%).
