Local communities along Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast are a valuable source of positive stories that can and should be part of the media narrative about the country as a tourist destination, according to MP Galya Vassileva. She was among the speakers at the "BG Tourism – Summer 2025" forum, organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Pomorie.
“In our coastal municipalities, there are opportunities every day to highlight positive aspects of what is happening during the summer season. They have rich cultural programmes and a variety of events in different towns and villages,” she added. Vassileva expressed hope that the media will increasingly cover the positive examples and initiatives taking place in Bulgarian resort areas.
“It’s truly unpleasant to constantly hear that something has gone wrong,” she remarked.
“The same information can be interpreted in different ways, but our common goal—of both the legislative and executive branches—is to make the tourism product even better, of higher quality, to continue developing it, and to show that Bulgaria is a top-level destination when it comes to tourism,” Vassileva added.
She stressed the importance of cooperation between public institutions, the media, businesses, and local authorities. “Collaboration among all stakeholders is extremely important. Perhaps we need to talk more often about how to work together to generate these positive stories,” she noted.
