Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh met with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Nathaniel Copsey. The two discussed opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism, the development of specific initiatives to promote Bulgaria on the British market, and the strengthening of institutional and business dialogue between the two countries in the tourism sector, the Tourism Ministry here reported on Friday.

“Bulgaria and the United Kingdom have strong tourism ties and a shared ambition to develop sustainable tourism products. Our goal is not only to restore pre-pandemic levels of tourist flow, but to offer excellent quality and new opportunities for British tourists in our country,” Minister Borshosh emphasized.

The United Kingdom remains among Bulgaria’s priority inbound markets. According to the National Statistical Institute, nearly 253,000 British tourists were registered at accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in 2024 — a 4.9% increase compared to 2023, although the market has not yet reached 2019 levels. British tourists continue to show strong interest in seaside, cultural, urban, and winter tourism, with top destinations remaining Nessebar, Sofia, Bansko, Borovets, and Varna.

The Ministry of Tourism maintains an active presence at key events such as the World Travel Market in London and New Deal Europe. For 2025, the expansion of the national stand at WTM is planned in response to increased interest from Bulgarian businesses, the Ministry added.
