The Tourism Ministry and the National Statistical Institute (NSI) will work in close partnership to modernize and digitize data collection and analysis processes in the tourism sector. This was the main focus of a meeting between Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh and NSI President Atanas Atanasov on Friday.
The aim of the partnership is to build a complete statistical database to support the sustainable development of tourism. In view of this a joint working group between the Ministry and the Institute will be re-established, whose role will be key in the process of updating and synchronization between the Integrated Tourist Information System and the NSI.
As part of the effort to improve domestic tourism data, including day and weekend trips, additional sources of information will be sought. NSI President Atanasov said that this is possible through partnerships with the Road Infrastructure Agency and mobile operators.
Both sides agreed that the joint work between the Tourism Ministry and the NSI and the digitization of statistical processes are a key tool for improving the management of the sector and providing accurate and timely information for the needs of business and administration, the Ministry further said.
