In July 2026, the total consumer confidence indicator increased by 2.9 percentage points in comparison with April, from -28.6% to -25.7%, the National Statistical Institute said on Friday.

An increase in consumer confidence among both urban and rural inhabitants, by 1.1 and 7.7 percentage points respectively, was reported.

According to the consumers’ assessments, there is a certain positive change in the development of the general economic situation in the country over the last 12 months, and their expectations over the next 12 months are more favourable in comparison with the previous survey.

In comparison with April, pessimism has decreased both in the assessments about the changes in the financial situation of households over the last 12 months and in the forecasts about the next 12 months.

The consumers continue to consider that over the last 12 months there has been an increase in consumer prices, but at a lower rate compared with the assessments registered in the previous inquiry. At the same time, their inflation expectations about the next 12 months are more moderate.

However, the consumers’ expectations concerning unemployment in the country over the next 12 months are more unfavourable in comparison with the opinions registered three months earlier.

The latest inquiry reports a slightly more positive total assessment of the present situation for making major purchases of durable goods, while consumers’ intentions to make such expenditures over the next 12 months are favourable.
