The exhibition “Boyan Radev’s Antique Collection” was unveiled in Pernik on Sunday, showcasing artefacts of proven historical and scholarly value from the ancient, medieval, and Ottoman periods.
The collection, presented at the initiative of Boyan Radev and Boyan Radev Jr, includes professionally curated stone stelae and other rare pieces now on display at the Mining Directorate’s gallery.
Regional Governor Lyudmil Veselinov expressed gratitude to the Radev family for making the exhibition possible, emphasising the unique significance of the artefacts and their contribution to Pernik’s cultural heritage. He noted that the gallery space will now bear Boyan Radev’s name.
Mayor of Pernik Stanislav Vladimirov praised Radev’s enduring connection to his home city and highlighted the ambition to revitalise the landmark building as a centrepiece for generations.
Kristiyan Petrov, who introduced the collection, said the artefacts illuminate the everyday lives and beliefs of ancient communities south of the Lower Danube, revealing details of their emotional and spiritual worlds.
The exhibition features ritual stonework, reliefs, statues and statuettes depicting deities and mythological figures from the Greco-Roman and Thracian pantheons, reflecting the region’s diverse cultural influences.
