The Regional Natural History Museum of Plovdiv (South Central Bulgaria) will host the 6th Butterfly Festival from September 19 to 21, the Museum said on its website. On the programme are art workshops, lectures, educational activities for all ages, and a children's drawing competition.
The aim of the event is to showcase the colourful diversity of butterflies, one of the most valuable pollinators in nature. Guests will have the opportunity to see live specimens from around the globe in the Museum's Tropic Hall, the only hall with live butterflies in Bulgaria. The collection is renewed twice a month as these insects live only a couple of weeks.
The drawing competition, themed "Butterfly World", is open to children aged from 5 to 18 years. The drawings, which must be submitted by September 16, will be exhibited in the Museum during the festival. The award ceremony will take place on September 21.
Entry for the festival is with a regular ticket for the Museum.
