French musical Don Juan will be staged at Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture (NDK) congress centre in Sofia from January 28 to 31, 2026, with a total of five performances, the organizers from Spectacolis said on Wednesday.
Created in 2003 by composer and librettist Felix Gray, the project is a free adaptation of the classic legend of the reckless seducer.
The show combines original music, spectacular stage duels, impressive special effects, and choreography inspired by Spanish dances, especially flamenco. Thanks to its dynamic vision and strong musical line, Don Juan has been enthusiastically received both in France and South Korea. In Canada, more than 200 performances were staged in Montreal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, and Ottawa, drawing 350,000 spectators. Over 300,000 soundtrack albums have been sold.
Following the premiere, the songs Du plaisir and Les Femmes topped Canadian music charts for weeks, while director Gilles Maheu received a prestigious award. The production is backed by independent music producers Charles and Nicolas Talar.
Felix Gray shared that he aimed to portray a more sensitive version of Don Juan, while preserving the elements of romance and drama.
Beyond his work on the musical, Gray is also known as the performer of hits like La Gitane, A toutes les filles, and Au cafe des delices. His albums have sold millions of copies and received gold certifications.
