site.bta8th Web Report Clean Journalism Awards Take Place in Sofia

Dir.bg's Chief Operating Officer Ivan Braykov, who spoke at the eighth edition of the Web Report Clean Journalism Awards here on Wednesday, said that while pure journalism does not scream, it is heard. He added that this type of journalism is not for sale, and it changes the world for the better.
Braykov said: "If we look back at the winners over the past years, we will see an unwritten picture of contemporary Bulgarian journalism, a multitude of investigations into abuse, corruption and stories that grab you by the throat, of children left without a chance, of medical doctors who had no chance to help, of people who have lost their voice and of those who have surpassed what is humanly possible."
Milena Kirova from the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) won an award for her report entitled "Missing votes: Is there a spillover of votes from Velichie to other parties?".
Yoan Zapryanov of Capital was awarded for his article "BETL: A Pyramid of Batteries (And over USD 250 million in crypto)".
Georgi Angelov of Free Europe was awarded for his piece "I worked for the Machine. The network of sites that promises money against disinformation".
Capital's Mila Cherneva received an award for "The Sozopol Monument of Carelessness".
Teodor Borisov from OFFNews was awarded for the piece "Football in wartime: A first-person account".

Zvezdomira Zhekovska from the New Bulgarian University students radio won the Young Author Award. Marin Nikolov from bTV took the Green Pen Award for his reporting on Bulgaria's reservoirs running dry. Rumen Sarandev and Oleksander Baron won the award for photojournalism. BNT's Ivan Yanev won an award for video journalism. Dir.bg's Deyan Veselinov won for the podcast episode entitled "Battle for a new life: Vlado Stoyanov's confession in SportCast". Nova TV's Martin Georgiev and BNT's Adelina Radeva won special awards.
Braykov shared: "We are organizing this competition because journalists are not just chroniclers, they are awakeners and sometimes saviours. Over the years, the contest has become a platform for unification, because it involves journalists from different media who are competitors in their daily lives, but here they are allies."
