The second evening of the Gala in Sofia festival, organized by renowned Bulgarian soprano Sonya Yoncheva, ended on Tuesday night with an eight-minute standing ovation from a packed audience.
At the heart of the evening was one of Giacomo Puccini’s most celebrated operas, Tosca, starring Sonya Yoncheva and Jonas Kaufmann, under the baton of Grigor Palikarov.
Nearly 100 musicians took part in the performance, with the orchestra, ballet and choir of the Sofia Opera and Ballet House taking the stage.
