site.btaWeb Report Awards for Journalism Presented at Ceremony in Sofia
A total of 150 journalists participated with over 500 news pieces in the 2026 edition of Web Report. The awards for journalism were presented at a ceremony in Sofia on Monday evening.
The Special Award for Young Authors was presented to Valentina Dineva, Valeria Pramatarova, and Marilena Hristova from Scoolmedia.com for their piece “From Silent Hatred to Violence: The Rise of Incel Culture in Bulgaria.”
The Green Pen Award went to journalist Hrisimira Milkova of shumenonline.bg for an investigation focusing on water supply issues in Shumen.
Mehmed Aziz received an award in the Photo Coverage category.
bTV journalist Desislava Rizova was awarded in the Video Coverage category for her piece “Tehran 26.”
The award in the Podcast category went to Viktoria Valchinova.
In the Sports category, Petya Zheleva from Nova TV was awarded for her piece “Novak Djokovic: The Story of the Tennis Legend from Belgrade to the Top of the World.”
Anton Zlatkov from bTV received the award in the Technology and Innovation category for his piece “AI and Political Propaganda: How Synthetic Videos and Memes Manipulate Public Opinion.”
In the Economy category, Vasil Minkov from Capital was awarded for his work on “The New Bulgarian Workers: From Nepal to Uzbekistan.”
In the Culture and Arts category, the award went to Anna Karadakova of Nova TV for her piece “Symphony of Powerlessness.” She received it from Antoaneta Markova, Director of the LIK department at BTA.
Asya Pencheva of Bulgarian National Radio received the award in the True Stories category for her piece “Chlorine and Silence.”
In the Society category, Maya Dimitrova of Bulgarian National Television won the award for her investigative report “Architects of Chaos.”
The winner in the Journalistic Excellence category was Boyko Vassilev of Bulgarian National Television for the piece “Traces on the Film Strip” about the restoration of Vulo Radev’s The Peach Thief.
The winners were selected by a jury featuring BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, journalist Daniel Chipev of the Bulgarian National Television, bTV show host Svetoslav Ivanov, Bulgarian National Radio deputy editor-in-chief Valeria Nikolova, Capital editor-in-chief Ivaylo Stanchev, journalist Anna Zarkova; News executive producer at Nova TV Metodi Vladimirov, Bulgarian Association of Sports Journalists Chair Nayden Todorov, A1 Corporate Communications Director Iliana Zaharieva, Dnes.bg editor-in-chief Aleksandar Popov, BulFoto agency founder Evgeni Dimitrov, and Dir.bg editor-in-chief Nikola Kostadinov.
