A solemn ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of the Union of Architects in Bulgaria (UAB) and World Architecture Day was held on Monday at the organization’s headquarters in Sofia.
Addressing the event, UAB President Arch. Peter Dikov noted that the Union celebrates “60 years of a body with a glorious past and a challenging present,” voicing his confidence that it will have “a bright future”.
Among the guests were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arch. Gichka Kutova-Kamenova, Rector of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy; Assoc. Prof. Iliana Stoynova, Rector of the Lyuben Karavelov Higher School of Civil Engineering; Eng. Iliyan Terziev, President of the Bulgarian Construction Chamber; Sofia’s Chief Architect Bogdana Panayotova; Borislav Vladimirov, President of the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria (CAB); BTA Director General Kiril Valchev; Arch. Istelianna Atanassova, Bulgaria’s first representative on the Board of the Architects’ Council of Europe; and Veselina Kalaykova, Chair of the Union of Landscape Architects in Bulgaria.
As part of the event, an exhibition dedicated to the Union’s 60th anniversary was officially opened.
Congratulatory addresses were received from Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov, the Union of Urban Planners in Bulgaria, the Union of Landscape Architects, the Chamber of Engineers in the Investment Design, and the Lyuben Karavelov Higher School of Civil Engineering.
