Sofia Regional Prosecution Office detained and charged a Romanian man for smashing windows in central Sofia, the prosecution service said on Tuesday.

Evidence collected so far shows that on September 28, at around 9:15 p.m., the defendant, identified as V.F., smashed the storefront windows of seven shops on Knyaginya Maria-Louisa Blvd. and Exarch Yosif Street in Sofia.

Pre-trial proceedings have been instituted under Article 216 in conjunction with Article 26 of the Criminal Code, which carries a penalty of imprisonment.

Given the risk of absconding, V.F. has been detained for up to 72 hours by order of the supervising prosecutor. A request for remand in custody will be submitted to the court.
