"We are developing a new approach to the advancement of cybersecurity, one that will be more centralised," said e-Government Minister Valentin Mundrov, as he responded to topical questions from members of the relevant parliamentary committee.
"A centralised approach will prevent a piecemeal handling of the issue. We must have the capability – both at the central and local government level – to manage this process effectively. Information about cyber incidents must be available and exchanged accordingly, so that we can be as well protected as possible while acting within the law," the Minister stated.
Mundrov noted that Bulgaria, like the rest of the world, faces serious challenges in the area of cybersecurity. "This is a threat that must be addressed appropriately," he added.
The Minister also emphasised the scale of the technological challenges associated with information and network security, and expressed hope that the National Assembly will adopt the proposed amendments to the Cybersecurity Act.
