site.btaSofia Municipal Council Presents Honorary Citizen Awards
Prominent public figures and athletes were awarded the title Honorary Citizen of Sofia and Honorary Badge of Sofia at a festive session of the Sofia Municipal Council on September 17, the city's holiday.
The Honorary Citizen of Sofia award was presented to, amongst others, Bulgarian theatre and film actor, director and poet Stefan Mavrodiev, Bulgarian Science Olympian Viktor Lilov, 1988 Olympic swimming champion Tanya Bogomilova, Alpine Ski World Cup Slalom winner in Madonna di Campiglio Albert Popov, poet Naiden Valchev and actor Russi Chanev.
The Honorary Badge of Sofia Municipality was awarded to the Society of Cardiologists in Bulgaria, artist Maria Landova, Zhestim Group Founder Maria Atanasova, as well as Formula 3 driver Nikola Tsolov and tennis players Ivan Ivanov and Alexander Vassilev.
