After visiting the VMZ ordnance plant in Sopot on Sunday, GERB leader Boyko Borissov told a press conference that while everyone favours peace, a strong defence is necessary to avoid getting attacked. Borissov visited the plant with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The leader of GERB stated that if all of Europe is striving to modernize and produce new weapons, while Bulgaria is not part of the European Safe security mechanism, in a few years' time Bulgaria's arms will be unsellable. He proceeded to praise the plant in Sopot for creating new jobs.
