Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning Floor Leader Delyan Peevski argued Saturday that the Counter-Corruption Commission should be shut down. "As a leader of MRF - New Beginning, I will submit a proposal for the closure of the Commission and will insist that the National Assembly vote on the proposal in two readings next week," he wrote on Facebook on Saturday.
"The vote on this will be a litmus test - who is manipulating and lying to people, playing games! The Counter-Corruption Commission must be shut down! This is the only way to cut the umbilical cord that connects this structure to discredited and failed, corrupt politicians who systematically use it for their "rescue" PR campaigns, presenting themselves as victims!" the post continues.
"The Counter-Corruption Commission must be shut down to put an end to the games and false dramas that it is a "bludgeon" against them! It must be shut down because all investigations into "bribes," "poodles," "customs," and corruption are used solely to boost the flagging ratings of the leaders of the Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB)! Because it was tailor-made for [former interior minister] Boyko Rashkov, it is commanded by [former Continue the Change Co-Chair] Kiril Petkov, and [former Democratic Bulgaria Co-Chair] Hristo Ivanov is pulling the strings behind the scenes!" the post adds.
According to Peevski, the Counter-Corruption Commission should have been proposed for closure by the CC-DB themselves, as they had publicly promised. "But they lied again! No such proposal has been submitted by them!" he said.
