site.btaFire at Bobov Dol TPP Contained, Air Quality Monitored

A team from the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water in Sofia (RIEW) is carrying out an inspection in connection with a signal received about a fire at the Bobov Dol Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Golemo Selo, said the Ministry of Environment and Water on its Facebook page.

The fire has been contained by fire brigade teams. The flames have affected a transformer from the First unit of the plant.

By orders of the Executive Environmental Agency, the air quality in the area is being monitored. A mobile automatic measuring station has been set up in the village of Golemo Selo.

According to initial data from the General Directorate of Fire Safety and Protection of the Population  there are no exceedances of air quality standards in the area. RIEW - Sofia will continue to inform the public about the results.

Earlier, the press centre of the Interior Ministry told BTA that no people were injured as a result of the incident.
