site.btaFinance Minister Expects Bulgaria's June Inflation Rate to Meet Euro Area Price Stability Criterion

Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova said during Wednesday's Council of Ministers briefing that she expects that Bulgaria's June inflation rate will meet the euro area price stability criterion.

The Minister cited the National Statistical Institute, which reported on Tuesday that monthly inflation in Bulgaria in June 2025 stood at 0.4%, while annual inflation reached 4.4%. Inflation since the beginning of the year (June 2025 compared to December 2024) is 2.4%.

In terms of the 12-month harmonized price index, which is inflation measured for Eurostat purposes, inflation in Bulgaria currently stands at 2.8%, with preliminary inflation data for the euro area at 2.9%, Petkova said.

Petkova also commented on the bonds that the Finance Ministry issued for international capital markets. She reported: "On Tuesday, the Ministry of Finance successfully placed bonds on international capital markets. Investor interest was huge. [...] More than 440 investors from all over the world showed up. This enthusiasm on the part of investors was dictated by and is undoubtedly based on the decisions of the European Commission to admit Bulgaria to the euro area and the subsequent upgrades of the country's credit rating by credit agencies. All this created the opportunity for the issue to be completed on the best possible financial terms."
