The Ministry of Interior will purchase 13,400 body cameras to be distributed among uniformed police officers across the country, the Ministry said in a press release on Tuesday. The delivery of the new equipment was discussed at a working meeting attended by Interior Minister Daniel Mitov, US Charge d’Affaires in Bulgaria Martin McDowell, and Senior Commercial Officer Hannah Kamenetsky.
Under the signed agreement, the contract will be executed by Motorola Solutions.
The modern equipment is expected to improve transparency, ensure an adequate response, and enhance the effectiveness of police operations. It will help guarantee the safety of both citizens and police officers, especially during incidents and critical situations, the press release reads.
