site.btaDeputy PM Donchev Says Cabinet Will Redirect BGN 60 Mln to Military Industry by End of 2025

Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev said Thursday that the Government plans to redirect about BGN 60 million to the military industry and development by the end of 2025. During his hearing at the parliamentary Committee on European Affairs and Control of European Funds, he added that half of this amount will be directed to the competitive procedure for the development of drones for the needs of the Bulgarian Armed Forces.

The remaining BGN 30 million will be directed towards laboratory equipment, sophisticated machinery and facilities at the Defence Centre of Excellence.

Donchev said that the equipment and the specialised unit will be for shared use by universities and for the benefit of engineering thought as well as the military industry.

Committee Chair Dimitar Gardev committed to arranging a closed session in which the Deputy Prime Minister would provide more detailed information on the defence fund and the reallocation of funds to the defence industry.
