A no-confidence vote in the Government will not remove a single landfill, it will only wipe out the authority of Parliament when used irresponsibly, Petya Tsankova MP of BSP - United Left said during Wednesday's debate on a no-confidence motion against the Government over its environmental policy.

The motion was submitted last week by Velichie with the support of Vazrazhdane and MECh.

"I urge you to reject this vote not because the problems do not exist, but because you, my colleagues, do not offer a single solution," Tsankova called on the MPs. Bulgaria does not need loud votes but consistent and responsible work, she said, pointing out that environmental protection is a responsibility that lies not only on institutions and businesses, but also on each citizen.

Tsankova recalled that the fourth no-confidence motion was submitted before the third one. In her words, this in itself is an acknowledgement of the political powerlessness not only of the reasoning behind the motion but also of the opposition itself.

There are environmental problems in Bulgaria, but they will not be solved with a vote of no confidence in a matter of weeks, Tsankova said, adding that they will not be solved with “political smoke and mirrors” aimed at news headlines and social media presence.
