During Question Time in Parliament on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov said that the National Assembly should adopt legislative changes guaranteeing fair pay for young medical professionals by the end of July. He was taking a question by MP Assen Vassilev of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria.
"Of course, we intend to participate in the dialogue to be held on the issue," said Zafirov, who heads BSP - United Left. He pointed out that Vassilev's question is extremely topical and sensitive.
On July 2, a discussion on the remuneration of young medical professionals took place in the National Assembly. It was attended by medical students, post-graduate doctors, representatives of various associations of medical specialists, and MPs.
After Zafirov's reply, Tsoncho Ganev MP of Vazrazhdane requested to address the National Assembly. "You see how far the self-forgetfulness of you as rulers goes. An emblematic example is the so-called deputy prime minister who does not even know what he is doing and is generally responsible for nothing," Ganev pointed out. "The person Zafirov gets up here, talks, rants, shuts up, doesn't know where he is and finally sits down disgraced. He doesn't know what he's talking about and most of all he doesn't know what he's working for because he's only taking a salary for a nothing," Ganev said.
National Assembly Nataliya Kiselova reprimanded Ganev for insulting a member of the Council of Ministers.
