The South-West University in Blagoevgrad has received the title of Champion for the period 2025–2027 in a competition under the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) programme of the European Commission, the management of the university said on Thursday.

The university was selected by the European Commission as an EWP Champion in recognition of its exceptional results in implementing the initiative. It is the second consecutive award for the university, after it was awarded the same title for the period 2023–2025. EWP Champions demonstrate a leading role and consistent achievements in the digital transformation of the Erasmus+ programme. The award is a recognition of the long-term efforts and commitment of the team working on the program, the university emphasized.

The EWP programme's main goal is to fully digitise the administration of academic mobility and eliminate the exchange of paper documents. Over 120 higher education institutions from 30 countries in Europe participated in the 2025 edition of the competition, with the South-West University in Blagoevgrad being among the highest rated institutions, distinguished for its active approach, professionalism and high quality in the digitalization of processes related to student mobility.

Currently, about 600 foreign students from different countries are studying at South-West University.
