Traffic at Bulgarian border crossing points with neighbouring countries was normal, the Border Police Directorate General at the Ministry of the Interior said on Monday.
The Border Police noted that following Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area, no border checks are carried out at internal air and sea frontiers after March 31, 2024, and at land frontiers from January 1, 2025. Checks remain in place on the Bulgarian-Romanian frontier until June 30, 2025, and the requirement for a declaration of consent from an absent parent still applies to minors.
A major overhaul of the Danube Bridge at Ruse continues, reducing traffic to a single lane under manual regulation, while all other river and land crossings operate normally.
Traffic is smooth at all checkpoints with the Republic of North Macedonia, although the full reconstruction of the Stanke Lisichkovo crossing confines vehicles to a limited number of lanes.
All crossings with Turkiye and Serbia report normal flows.
On the Greek frontier, construction works on the Rudozem–Xanthi route keep the site closed to unauthorised visitors. The Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad crossings admit only cars and minibuses weighing up to 3.5 t.
