The Bulgarian Embassy in Athens has contacted the relatives of a deceased Bulgarian citizen, according to the Strategic Communications and Public Diplomacy Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This statement came in response to a question from BTA concerning media reports from Bulgaria and Greece about the death of a Bulgarian woman on Rhodes.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed it had received information about the woman. Due to an ongoing investigation, further details cannot be disclosed at this point.

A 31-year-old Bulgarian tourist died while kitesurfing off the coast of Rhodes, the online edition of Greece's Kathimerini reported Tuesday. According to it, the woman was using her own kitesurfing equipment near Kremasti Beach. She lost consciousness and fell into the water under unclear circumstances.
