Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov Tuesday signed six contracts with representatives from telecommunications companies A1 Bulgaria, Vivacom Bulgaria, and CETIN Bulgaria (part of Yettel Bulgaria) to develop digital networks across the country.

“More than 200 settlements in 140 municipalities will have access to high-speed internet. Each of these settlements will be connected, and mobile operators will provide signal coverage through their transmitters, converting it to mobile service,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. “While in the capital and regional cities we enjoy fast internet, that is not the case everywhere. Smaller settlements and remote areas do not have such fast internet access, and people live differently,” Karadjov said.

The contracts will expand network coverage with speeds exceeding one gigabyte per second, which would make it possible to close the digital divide after August 2026, Karadjov noted. He added that this would allow “people in small and remote settlements to live the same way as those in the capital.”

The contracts are worth BGN 433,613,866 excluding VAT, with BGN 390,027,846 (excluding VAT) funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
