Velichie Floor Leader Ivelin Mihaylov Friday said that his parliamentary group and Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) had reached “some initial agreement” to support each other's potential motions of no confidence against the Zhelyazkov Cabinet. Mihaylov spoke to reporters in Parliament about the two entities’ plans to submit motions of no confidence following positive convergence reports showing that Bulgaria meets the criteria for adopting the euro.

“If their motion fails, we will proceed with ours, because we do not see how this government can continue to exist,” the Velichie Floor Leader said.

Taking a question from a reporter, Mihaylov said that he had spoken with CC co-leader Kiril Petkov in Parliament’s lobby. “I have only met with Kiril Petkov, not with DB. DB would probably refuse to sign this motion of no confidence,” he added.

“Vazrazhdane play the role of opposition to the opposition. Because whenever I speak out against the government, Vazrazhdane cause the most disruption in the debating chamber; they shout and try to interrupt me. This is beyond me, considering that we are supposedly pursuing the same goal: bringing down the government. Vazrazhdane should be even more keen on doing so,” Mihaylov said.

He said that he expects CC to send over the text of their motion. "In order to support it, we need to see that it makes sense. We will also send them ours, which focuses on environmental issues."
