"It is an honor for me to extend my best wishes for health and strength to all people of the word, who with their daily efforts preserve and develop education, science, culture and spirituality in Bulgaria and around the world," Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova wrote in a press release on the occasion of the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slav Letters.

"We especially need all of them today, when we must not lose faith in the strength of the Bulgarian spirit, which has withstood the vicissitudes of different eras and trials," she stressed.

"On the most sacred Bulgarian holiday, let us bow with pride and respect to the immortal work of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius. Let us remember with deep gratitude and a sense of responsibility that our first teachers not only created the Slavic script, but also laid the foundations of a new Christian literary culture," she emphasized, adding that thanks to their work Bulgarians have the opportunity to read and write in their native language and to rise spiritually and scientifically, preserving their national identity this way.
