Speaking to reporters after the Government announced it would extend an extra BGN 15 for the protesting public transportation workers in the capital, Sofia Mayor Vassil Terziev said: "They created the crisis - they solved it. We are waiting for the next episode where all this will be repeated."

Earlier on Monday, the President of the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour, Dimitar Manolov, emerging from a meeting with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, said that the Government will allocate an additional BGN 15 million for the public transport system in Sofia.

According to Mayor Terziev, the lack of long-term thinking and problem-solving has created the transport problems in the capital. “We are always guided by the easiest and most convenient solution or trying to sweep the problem under the rug,” he said. He added that he would try to fight against the postponing of the problems "from today to tomorrow". “I cannot accept such an attitude, which relies on short-term and half-way measures, and never addresses what is substantial,” Terziev also said.

The protest paralyzing Sofia’s above-ground public transport system went into its sixth day on Monday, with employees protesting for higher pay.
