Mountain hiking conditions are poor due to cloudy and windy weather, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross said here on Saturday.
Recent rainfall has made the ground very wet, and there is fog in some areas.
MRS notes that public transport to Vitosha is not running.
The weather is expected to stabilize by evening and gradually improve over the course of the day.
No incidents were reported in the mountains during the past 24 hours.
Cloud cover will remain substantial over the eastern half of the Balkan Range, as well as Mt. Strandzha and Mt. Sakar, with occasional rain and snow above 2,200 m. In the afternoon, skies will clear and it will be mostly sunny. A strong west-northwest wind will persist. The maximum temperature will be around 9C at 1,200 m and about 3C at 2,000 m.
