A total of 2,815 millilitres of e-cigarette liquid in 111 devices was confiscated by customs officers from Blagoevgrad. The e-cigarettes were found in a courier shipment with a recipient, a natural person from the region. Customs officers selected the shipment and found that it contained 110 devices with 25 ml. of liquid each, and one device with as much as 40 ml, which is 20 times more than the volume of liquid allowed for disposable vape devices regulated in the regulatory framework. Work on the case is ongoing.

In the first quarter of the year, officers in Sofia and Blagoevgrad confiscated a total of over 27,000 vapes with 483,059 ml of e-cigarette liquid. Some 16 shipments arriving from other EU member states were identified, containing unregulated transport and storage of vape type electronic cigarettes. As a result, 10 pre-trial proceedings were initiated for crimes committed under the Penal Code, as well as six administrative-criminal proceedings.
