Approached by journalists here on Sunday, President Rumen Radev commented on the idea of Democratic Bulgaria to table a draft parliamentary declaration stating the euro will be adopted in 2026, as a response to his proposal for a referendum on the euro. "I hope that our MPs will fulfill their commitments not only to the eurozone but also to democracy. It is surprising that the people who describe themselves as the biggest democrats, stand against democracy," Radev commented.

Commenting on a draft decision tabled by GERB-UDF for the removal of Plamen Tonchev as head of the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and his nomination for chairman of the so-called Dossier Committee, Radev said that Bulgaria is going back to the pre-2020 times, and Tonchev's removal from office is but a part of this approach against democracy. "The goal is very clear: take over the [security] services in order to cover up  the thefts and use the services as bludgeons against those who do not cooperate," Radev commented.

On April 30, the National Assembly voted to launch a procedure for the election of chair, deputy chair, secretary and members of Parliament’s Committee for the disclosure of documents and the declaration of affiliation of Bulgarian citizens to the State Security and Intelligence Services of the Bulgarian People's Army (the so-called Dossier Committee). Before the Easter recess of the National Assembly, the MPs stopped the old procedure. Before it was abolished, GERB-UDF had proposed former constitutional judge Konstantin Penchev to head the Committee. Now he has been nominated as its deputy chairman.
