Protesters organized a motor march Saturday in the streets and boulevards of Ruse, then blocked the traffic in the area of the roundabout near the Danube Bridge.

The protest is themed "Future for Children". The protesters stress that their children deserve safe roads, clean air and responsible institutions. They demand the completion of a motorway connecting Ruse and Veliko Tarnovo, and the rehabilitation of the road from Byala to the Hemus motorway.

“We demand clean air, water and nature for the residents of the municipality of Ruse, full inspection of the violating companies and revocation of their permits," said the co-organizer of the protest Petar Penchev.

The participants also held up banners reading "Our children deserve a safe tomorrow", "Will Ruse Be?", etc.

Traffic in the area of the Danube Bridge was blocked for a little more than half an hour.

"We are motivated to continue the protests in this format every Saturday until we see a real change in our society. At the moment, we see a powerlessness of the institutions. This is inexplicable to us given the situation that is being created for our children," Penchev said.
