Former Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev is ready to run in snap general elections and one option is to register his Justice for Bulgaria Movement as a political party. "If there are national elections, we will run. Our plan is to form partnership with a party which is already registered or grow the Justice for Bulgaria Movement into a political party," Geshev told a news conference in the Black Sea city of Burgas Monday.

Geshev was asked about his Movement plans as early national elections became very much likely after GERB Prime Minister-designate Mariya Gabriel withdrew from the procedure for formation of a government.

The former top prosecutor said that what the parties are engaged in horse-trading over who will get what. "The Movement for Rights and Freedoms and GERB are chewing on Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria and will spit them out the moment they no longer use them," he added.

Asked how far the probe into an explosion near his car has reached, he said that he continues to wait to be questions.

The blast near the motorcade of the then Prosecutor General Geshev occurred on May 1, 2023, triggering a chain of events, including Geshev's removal from the office. No one was hurt in the blast. No one has been charged for it.

Geshev said Monday that the only thing that makes him happy is that Europol is involved in the investigation.

He reiterated his suspicion that GERB leader Boyko Borissov had to do with the blast.
