A man was shot dead in Sofia on Wednesday evening, the Interior Minstry said. The incident took place in the Gorna Banya neighbourhood around 8:30 pm.
At a news briefing following the incident, Deputy Sofia City Prosecutor Ivo Iliev said that the man identified as Martin Bozhanov was shot in the body and head, adding that a homicide investigation has been launched.
Taking a question from reporters, Sofia City Prosecutor Iliana Kirilova said that her prosecution office has received reports of threats made by Bozhanov against magistrates.
Interior Ministry Secretary General Zhivko Kotsev said that the police are looking for witnesses who could provide more information on the case. No suspects have been identified so far.
One of the leading theories for the murder is property fraud, which has been reported to the prosecution office, investigators told BTA.
