Security measures in central Sofia are heightened on Thursday with strong police presence around the buildings of Parliament, the Council of Ministers and the President's Office as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected on a visit later this day.
Police posts line the central thoroughfare on the route from Sofia Airport to the centre.
Media reports about Zelenskyy's visit appeared on Wednesday but there was no official information about it. It was only Thursday morning that Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov confirmed that it is expected later on Thursday.
