Units from 2nd Tundzha Motorized Infantry Brigade and other segments of the Bulgarian Land Forces are having field training at the Koren Training Area, Haskovo Region (Southern Bulgaria) between June 26 and July 2 as a prelude to Tactical Exercise "Strike Back 23", the Defence Ministry said on Monday.

The field training event involves company-level tactical training with firing practice, in which Tundzha Brigade units are working together with a tank company from 2nd Tank Battalion of the Sliven Specialists Training Centre. Company-level tactical and special training of support units from the Tundzha Brigade is also on the agenda.

Tactical Exercise "Strike Back 23" will be held at Koren between July 3 and 5 as part of the Enhanced Vigilance Activity 23 of NATO's Multinational Battlegroup in Bulgaria, with Italy as the framework nation, which is underway at the Novo Selo Training Area, Sliven Region (Southeastern Bulgaria).

"Strike Back 23" will involve up to 430 servicepersons and up to 140 vehicles of the Bulgarian Land Forces, and personnel of the Italian Army. Its theme is "A reinforced motorized infantry battalion defending itself in the first echelon of a multinational brigade". The goal is to test the coordination level and the capability of the battalion to plan and carry out defensive combat action within a multinational motorized infantry brigade.
