site.btaUPDATED PM-Designate Nikolay Denkov: Draft Cabinet to Consist Mainly of Experts
The draft cabinet is intended to contain mainly experts, prime minister-designate of the Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) coalition, Nikolay Denkov, said on the sidelines in Parliament Friday.
Now CC-DB and GERB-UDF are discussing the particular members that would receive broader parliamentary support and would include more experts, Denkov said, adding that they are waiting for final talks with GERB's Mariya Gabriel.
In the words of the prime minister-designate, the proposed cabinet has been approved by the parties in the CC-DB coalition with a consensus.
The proposed cabinet should also be acceptable to the public, said Denkov, adding that each of the candidates is worthwhile and it is also important for people to understand why a regular cabinet should be formed, one major reason being that the country still lacks state budget legislation for 2023. The situation calls for a serious team to deal with these problems, he added, for if the option of another round of snap elections is chosen, then the country will remain with the current extended version of the 2022 State Budget of the Republic of Bulgaria Act.
Delayed reforms under the Recovery and Resilience Plan are another reason requiring a regular government, according to Denkov.
It is very important to understand that to have a government that will begin work is of prime importance, Denkov declared.
On Thursday evening, Denkov told NOVA TV that CC-DB and GERB-UDF had approved a list of ministers following a constructive discussion. The full list is to be presented later on Friday.
