The building of the European Commission Representation in Sofia was splashed with red paint on Sunday during a protest of Vazrazhdane supporters who were joined by MPs of the party.
Vazrazhdane wrote on their Facebook page earlier in the day that people would gather in front of the European Commission building in Sofia to protest at "Brussels' interference in Bulgaria's internal affairs".
The demonstration blocked traffic on G. S. Rakovski Street in the city centre for half an hour in the afternoon.
Police presence was tightened in the area.
The Foreign Ministry firmly condemned the act of vandalism. "Such actions are in stark contrast to what present-day Bulgaria stands for and the democratic values it epitomizes," the Ministry said in a statement published on its website.
Another strong condemnation came from GERB party leader Boyko Borissov, who wrote on Facebook it is particularly disturbing that this act of vandalism comes at a time when Bulgaria is confronted by serious challenges.
Noting that the local and international public is looking forward to a solution to Bulgaria's two-year political crisis, the former prime minister said: "Therefore, I once again call on the democratic mainstream parties to stand united around Bulgaria's national interests and to form a strong regular government. The only antidote to the hybrid attempts at spreading malicious Russian influence in our society is to provide guarantees for our further Euro-Atlantic integration."
