site.btaBulgaria Receives First MiG-29 Engine from Poland

Bulgaria has received the first MiG-29 engine from Poland, the Defence Ministry said on Twitter. A contract will be concluded with Poland for a second engine for Bulgaria's fighter jets, Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said days ago.
The news that Bulgaria will be getting two MiG-29 engines from Poland was announced by Stoyanov back in January. In mid-March, the Defence Ministry launched a public procurement procedure for the supply of six repaired engines for MiG-29 fighter jets. The estimated cost is BGN 26.4 million, VAT included.
Bulgaria has received two offers for platforms to replace its MiG-29 fighters, but the MPs won't find the price palatable, President Rumen Radev told reporters on March 30.
In February, Stoyanov said that Bulgarian air space will be defended by MiG-29 fighters by the year's end for sure, but there is a big possibility that Bulgaria will have to stop maintaining aerial standby.
