Customs officers at the Danube Bridge 2 border crossing near Vidin found undeclared euro banknotes worth BGN 239,347 hidden in a truck exiting Bulgaria, the Customs Agency said Tuesday. The driver, a Turkish national, was presented with a statement of violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.

Since the start of 2023, there have been six cases of undeclared foreign currency being seized at Danube Bridge 2, shows BTA's check on the Customs Agency's website. In all these cases, the drivers were Turkish nationals and the currency - a total of EUR 750,000 and GBP 267,000 - was hidden well in the vehicles, among the goods aboard, or in the drivers' luggage.
