An official introduction of the team working at the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT) at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski took place at the President's administration here on Thursday. The team includes prominent computer scientists from Bulgaria and across the world, including Prof. Luc Van Gool.

At the ceremony, President Rumen Radev said that INSAIT is becoming a strategic project for Bulgaria, turning the country towards high-tech, future-oriented fields of science and technology, which are a solid foundation for the creation of deep-tech start-ups and new industries. Radev spoke about the Institute's goal to turn Bulgaria into a leading AI and computer science centre in Eastern Europe.

INSAIT was founded in April 2022 in partnership with Switzerland's ETH Zurich and EPFL. The Bulgarian government funds the Institute with nearly BGN 170 million over 10 years.
