Unit 6 of Kozloduy N-plant has been shut down, the N-plant said on its website. This is due to a technical problem with the generator’s coolant system, the non-nuclear part of the unit. The unit was brought off stream on October 29 at 9 pm.

Radiation levels are unchanged, the plant said.
Work is underway to repair the problem and connect the unit to the national grid.

According to information on the website of the Kozloduy N-plant, the scheduled annual maintenance of Unit 6 ended on October 29 and it was brought on stream at 12:52 hrs.

Caretaker Energy Minister Rosen Hristov said on bTV that tests are being done to identify the cause for the leak of the coolant system of Unit 6 and that results are expected by Monday at the latest. The deadline to repair the problem is November 3 and he voiced hope that the issue won’t be more serious.

The Energy Minister said that there are no financial losses from the shutdown of the generating unit because it is within the deadline of the scheduled maintenance, November 3.
